Page index (& supporting links):
Please find below the various download options for the MCBase V3.x software archives. Please note that you will need your personal registration key to use them in full.
Note: all archives are in PKWare's ZIP format (since it is the most wide spread archiver format). If you do not have a (shareware) copy of PKZIP or a compatible program (like WinZip), you may download one from the PKWare support website.

- MCBase for Windows PAD description file
Download MCBase's PAD XML description file
The ASP has created a general product description file format, called PAD (Portable Application Description). You will find the PAD file for MCBase attached to this link.
Using the PAD description file (which is in XML format), distributors can easily obtain detailed application information, using data extraction tools made available to them by the ASP. Alternatively, we can also offer you a slightly limited HTML version of the PAD data file - in case you don't have the PAD data extraction tools at hand.
- Sample backup procedure using an archiver
Download the MCBase V3.x sample backup procedure.
This ZIP archive contains a DOS based set of batch programs, that use the freeware archiver utility LHA.EXE, by Haruyasu Yoshizaki, to create a backup of your MCBase V3.x databases. The method used is identical to the manner as described in the MCBase online helpfile.
This set of batch programs together represent a menu driven program to control the MCBase database backup using LHA.EXE (and some support programs).
In order to use this batch program, you will also require LHA.EXE itself. If not already present on your system, you may download it using the link on our "MCBase for DOS/Win3" download page.
Please note, that this sample backup procedure is provided as-is (please see: Preferred data backup solutions.). Creating a frequent backup is highly recommended, but is the responsability of the user. Backup software is not part of the MCBase product line. For the best possible backup solution, you may want to investigate additional hardware, as a tapestreamer, a ZIP-drive, or a CD-rom burner?
- "mcbase_support.html" page.
Download the "mcbase_support.html" page.
This ZIP archive contains a simple HTML page. MCBase uses this page, in order to provide you with an easy means to send us e-mail, reach this website or access to other items of interest.
(This is the "MCBase Online Support" page, used by the MCBase program. Extract this page from the archive to the same directory/folder as where the MCBase executable is installed and replace any existing previous copy).
- MCBase User Report Designer - User Contributions.
Download the User contributed reports for the MCBase URD
This ZIP archive contains user submitted reports (more will be added to this archive in the future) for use with the built in User Report Designer. Instructions on how to modify them for your own use can all be found in the User Report Designer's online help. (Should you have created a report, that might be useful to others, please send us a copy to add to this archive). Extract the contents of this archive to the same directory/folder as where your MCBaseWin.EXE is located.
Current contents of this user report archive:
- User Report "CD_inlay.QR2"
List songtitles that are contained on a CD album, and print them in a format that is suitable for use on a CD inlay.
- User Report Media ORT single report.QR2
Report developed for my own use. In my personal collection (as in the demonstration database set) I use Open Reel Tapes (ORT). In the media database, these Open Reel Tapes are coded as "ORT [identifier]" (see the demo database for a sample). What this report does, is to ask you for a specific ORT identifier. With this identifier, it will access the database system and then list all items on this particular ORT in the order of their appearance on that tape.
The SQL query that gathers the data is adaptable for other media, by changing the "QRT" value in the Media SQL filter to any other required value.
- User Report "Songs by Artist.QR2
Report developed at request of a user who required such a list for performances. The report lists all artists (incl. "Period" field) in alphabetical order and their songtitles / compositions (including "Release" field).
- User Report "SongsByTitleComposer.QR2"
Report developed at request of a user with a classical collection. The report list songtitles / compositions in alphabetical order, but now with the composer name as the report's second sort criteria.
- User Report "Song_ReleaseDate.QR2"
List songtitles that were released in 1970. (The filtered release date is adjustable by modifying the filter in the SQL Query Wizard).
- User Report "Song sorted by release.QR2"
List songtitles in alphabetical order, sorted by their release date. (This filtering method requires the date in the "Release" field to be greater than "0" and to have a notation that begins with the year).
