PictureBook product description
PictureBook V1.8: Your Personal Graphics database. A flexible, easy to use tool for managing all your graphics, photo's and other images.
PictureBook stores your images into it's central database, after which you can access these by the image's title and/or date - including search filtering options. The fullscreen slideshow feature will follow the search filter settings. You may also enter virtually unlimited additional descriptions into the images's memofield (Rich Text Format (RTF) support included). If preferred, multiple database sets (for a seperation of image catagories, for example) can be used also.
The PictureBook graphics database system can handle the common image file formats for both import and export functions. All other graphical formats are supported by using cut & paste functionality.
An "Add-on toolkit", with various utility functions, is included. Also included is a powerful User Report Designer (URD), with which you may construct your own reports and representations. This URD also supports an implementation of Structured Query Language (SQL) allowing you to query your graphics database on all available fields in order to quickly retrieve the images you require. (A example set of standard reports, also using SQL, is included).
PictureBook requires a one time registration (=license purchase) and offers lifetime support and free upgrades & add-on programs.
You find the freely downloadable installation software ZIP archive at the PictureBook download facility.
Please note: PictureBook is not limited to the function of a pure image database alone. Due to it's flexible setup, PictureBook is be able to handle any information that consists of an image and/or (associated) text. You can use it for - of course - an image database for any topic (or a mix of topics), but a recipe database, for example, would also be possible. Be creative when evaluating this application - it might prove to be more flexible than you think! ;-)
PictureBook add-on's - extra functionality to the main program.

Next to PictureBook itself, you may find various add-on programs and utilities in the PictureBook installation file (setup). Currently, following add-on functionality is included:
- The PBToolkit add-on program set is a set of utilities in which various functions are combined. You may regard it as your PictureBook "toolbox". The PBToolkit utilities set will be installed in the same directory as PictureBook itself (i.e. PictureBook.EXE) and it will require the presence of your PictureBook Registration Key for most of it's functions.
At the moment, following functions are available from PBToolkit.EXE V1.3 (included with PictureBook V1.8):
- Database generation - Being able to create a new and empty database file set can be required at times, so this functionality is included in this utility collection.
- Database Repair - The possibility to repair or rebuild a database system is something that you may require in times of need: a powerfailure or other disaster could corrupt a database set. The PBToolkit offers functionality to rebuild and repair the database, that is tailormade to the PictureBook database system. Apart from this, you may also decide to run it every once in a while, just to reclaim space lost to deleted entries and such.
- Strip memo RTF codes - Convert the standard Rich Text Format (RTF) text in the memo fields to Plain Text format. (Plain Text format is required for use with other database programs, that do not support the use of RTF text in memo fields. When activating this option in PictureBook's "Preferences" dialog, while already having a database in use, you will need to either replace or convert your "RTF" memo text to "Plain" memo text, using this function. Should you want to switch PictureBook's "Use only plain text..." option off again, later on, reenabling RTF support, it will not be neccessary to convert the plain text back, in order to actually re-enable RTF support in your memo text.)
- Image Batch Import - Import of images by batch or group. Through the addition of the new external utility "PbBatchImport", accessible from PictureBook's PBToolkit program, registered users can now import a series of images at once. The import routine will use the image file's date and full filename (incl. the file path) as date and name entries for the database record.
- The PictureBook SQL search query reports are highly flexible SQL implementations in Picturebooks User Report Designer (URD). These queries enable you to search all databases of the PictureBook database system, using either exact matches or substrings, SQL wildcard characters are also allowed.
These SQL query reports can be modified at will, to suit your personal taste. The currently available search report examples are included in the PictureBook V1.8 distribution archive.
(For your information - As a PictureBook user, you might be interested in our new program "TGrab - the Timer automated image Grabber"? This is an application that is able to take screenshots of the whole desktop or only the active window on either a manual command or a timer setting. Read all about it at the TGrab Product Information Page. When purchasing these applications simultaniously, you are offered a discount on the second application).
