Dear user,Thank you for using (or evaluating) the Doldersum.com software products, we appreciate your interest and ongoing support. Please find below, some information on the developments of last year and our new plans for 2005.

Our affiliation programme, as already introduced in our 2004 newsletter, has been expanded with another participant. We are now also able to offer the affiliation programme through the ShareIt! registration service. This brings our total offering to 3 possible partners with which you can team up in order to profit from selling our software products:
Through all the three partners, we offer an initial margin of 20% of the gross sales price.
If you run a software download website or if you're an experienced user of our software product(s), you might want to consider the possibility to earn some money from your expertise? When all is in place, the affiliation system of your choice will apply the mentioned share (initially, 20% for all our applications) for each sale generated from your website (or other sales effort) to your affiliate account. They will also see to it, that you receive payment (payment intervals may differ per affiliation system).

Please find below the most significant product enhancements, implemented into the MCBase application, during 2004:
- On some systems, the decimal point character (either the period "." or the comma ","), as generated by the key on the lower right-hand side of the numeric part of a standard keyboard was not accepted by the database system as the valid decimal separator in the "Time" field as used in the "Edit Song"-dialog, for example. As a result, the entry was not accepted by the "Time" input field until the correct character was entered.
MCBase will now look at the actual character generated by this key and check if it matches the character defined as the system decimal separator and will correct the character if so required. This modification has also been implemented in MCBaseUtilities V3.2.3.19, which is part of the MCBase V3.6.1.50 installation.
- Expanded MCBase's main window with a button-based menu, the "Quick access menu". As it's name implies, it is designed to provide a quicker means of accessing those functions that have been identified by some of our users as being the most frequently used and which were previously only accessible through the menu structure and their designated function-keys ("hotkeys").
- Both the Sound & Video memo containers are now equipped with a "Player Autostart" function. In previous versions, when a user indicated that a mediaclip needed to be retrieved from the database for playing, the clip would not actually start until the user would provide an extra click on the Mediaplayer's "play" button. The new "Autostart" function now takes care of the requirement of providing the extra click on the "play" button: when retrieved from the database, the appropriate container can now automatically start playing the clip.
This updated MCBase application, release V3.6 (V3.6.1.50) has been released on december 19th, 2004 and can be freely downloaded from the MCBase for Windows download facility.
Please find below the most significant product enhancements, implemented into the PictureBook application, during 2004:
- Introduced pop-up menu's, having all the valid commands enabled, on both the "Picture image" and "Picture information" tab-pages. These menu's are structured the same as the "Image" and "Information" sub-menu's from the main menu.
- Added an additional function to the "Picture image" tab-page: this is the "Freshen image" function, which refreshes the image as it is currently shown, by redrawing it within the boundaries of the "Picture image" container. This function can also be executed by double-clicking on the image.
- c)Added a "splash screen" during the startup procedures, to indicate that PictureBook is initializing itself. The splash screen includes a bar that shows the progress of this initialisation process.
This updated PictureBook application, release V1.7 (V1.7.1.44) has been released on november 14th, 2004 and can be freely downloaded from the PictureBook download facility.
The SQLBox application itself has undergone minor changes only. Important changes have been made to the related website support pages, however.
- A link has been provided to a specific section of the Paradox Community website, where the use of the LocalSQL language is described. These pages can provide valuable insights on how to get the best performance out of a database system, using LocalSQL.
- A link has been provided to the BDE section of the Borland Inc. website, where the most recent version of the Borland Database Engine (BDE) can be downloaded. Normally, SQLBox ships with BDE V4, since this release is still quite compact in download size. For optimum performance, however, you may want to use BDE V5 - the link to Borland's BDE download page is provided on SQLBox's download page.
This updated SQLBox application, release V1.2 (V1.2.2.13) has been released on october 23rd, 2004 and can be freely downloaded from the SQLBox download facility.
Please find below the most significant product enhancements, implemented into the TGrab application, during 2004:
- On a few computer systems, it appeared that TGrab could not successfully capture the fullscreen snapshot? Since TGrab used the standard and documented Windows command events for these functions and these computers were all using versions of the Windows operating systems that had actually been included in our testing programme, it has to be assumed that this problem is caused by occasional bugs in the operating system. (These bugs may possibly have been introduced by applying multiple patches (?), since they do not appear to exist in any of the local testing- or customer-machines).
As a work-around, we have implemented an additional software routine to perform fullscreen snapshots: the "Custom" snapshot command. This routine is now selected as the default fullscreen capture mode.
- Two of TGrab's main window appearance properties have been made configurable: these are the settings for "dialog autoscaling" and "dialog resizing". These settings can be accessed through the "Settings (2)" tab-page of the Preferences dialog.
These settings have been made configurable, since - on some of the Windows XP systems - the selected settings for font & window appearances could cause TGrab's main window to grow slightly beyond the default window size. This growth would (also) trigger the automatic insertion of a set of scrollbars. In itself not a problem, since the dialog has always been manually resizable, but it's not how we'd like our application to present itself to it's user. Therefor, the default settings have been altered, so that TGrab can cope with this. However, if you prefer, you can switch the old settings back on.
This updated TGrab application, release V1.5 (V1.5.1.12) has been released on october 16th, 2004 and can be freely downloaded from the TGrab download facility.
Plans for future developments related to existing products:
- MCBase - the Music Collection dataBase:
One of the things we're planning to add into MCBase's palette (as a part of the MCBaseUtilities collection), is a function to mass-import multimedia files. Being an automated process, this utility would handle these multimedia files as new entries to the collection, since this idea is consistent with the basic development concept of MCBase, where a multimedia file is merely another "music carrier" and is therefor handled as a separate entity of a song. Therefor, you should keep in mind that such a mass-import tool would not couple the imported multimedia file to any existing songrecords, but would create new song entries for them. (Preliminairy release date: 2nd half of 2005).

At Doldersum.com, it was always assumed in the past, that a customer would want to receive a notification for a free downloadable update of the product for which he or she bought a license, so we had implemented an "opt-out" mailing list for our customers: you were in, until you cancelled.
Near the end of 2003, with the new anti-spam legislation coming up in Europe, we needed to reverse that, in order to work within the new laws: only users who specifically request to be included on the mailinglist can receive these Free Update Notification emails. We informed all users (who were on the mailing lists at that time) about the change and what steps they would need to take to make sure that they would keep receiving the notifications.

Due to the large amount of spam (unwanted commercial email) and email viruses floating around the internet and their potential danger, a system wide spam filtering system has now been installed for the Doldersum.com domain. Therefor, should you experience trouble with sending us your email message, please feel free to use our email form to notify us.
Also due to the burden of spam, our former email address at "hccnet.nl" (which was used in the past for the domain registration record, for example) is now dorment. The rate of spam received on that address is at 99.9% and - also because it's an address out of our Doldersum.com domain - the address now needs to be regarded as inactive.
