Dear user,
Thank you for using (or evaluating) the Doldersum.com software products, we appreciate your interest and ongoing support. Please find below, some information on the developments of last year and our new plans for 2006.
(Readers that aren't familiar with the products mentioned in this newsletter, may find links to the mentioned products on the left side of this page. These links will take you to the product information pages, where all details on the various applications can be found. In case of any questions, please feel free to contact us).
We'd like to bring following items to your attention:

Two identical enhancements have been implemented in all three of these products, during april 2005:
We were made aware of a serious problem with the reporting functions, that could prevented proper execution on Windows 2000 and Windows XP systems. On the systems in question, the length of the path name to the temporary storage directory (or folder) could exceed the length that QuSoft initially had anticipated. (Qusoft is the supplier of the library that has been used for the development of our permanent reports as well as QRDesign's User Report Designer). This temporary storage directory is used to create the temporary metafile, that holds the report's actual information. On the systems where this error would occur, both the fixed reports and the reports in the User Report Designer would terminate after 2 or more pages with a message of "Access violation at ....", followed by a message "Metafile not valid".
A checking routine (which is verifying if the computer system has a printer driver installed or not), appeared to cause an error (i.e. runtime error 217, occuring at startup). It was first noticed on a Windows XP system (without a printer driver), that this routine caused the application to terminate when it tried to verify the presence of the missing driver. (If a printer driver was installed & selected as the default driver, the routine worked correctly). Since this error hadn't been noticed during earlier testing and hasn't been reported before by the users, it's occurance might be limited to certain specific conditions.
The two mentioned routines have been enhanced to cope with their respective situations. Also, the support applications for these products have also been updated with this functionality, where required.
Implemented an auto-execute function into TGrab's Preference settings, in order to enable it to start taking screenshots immediately after being executed (using these previously stored Preference settings)
This will allow TGrab to be executed & start functioning automatically, using a scheduling application or scripts. TGrab already had the ability to terminate after a certain time-frame or after a certain amount of images were taken.
Please note, that TGrab will not be able to auto-execute in it's hidden mode, due to certain restrictions
GhostlyEye is a new type of "screen grabber": it is a utility to take snapshots of your full windows desktop screen, while remaining out of sight for your computer system's momentarily user. It's more or less an undetected ghost, who's watchful eye is looking over a user's shoulder, while he or she is working with your computer system. A timer based & embedded "surveillance camera"-like device for your computer.It will take these screenshots in a timer automated mode, using settings that you will have configured previously. A GhostlyEye session can be executed manually or it can execute automatically at each system start, during which it will not show itself (i.e., the only "visible" user interface, is the Preference settings dialog, as shown here).
(Being a normal computer process, GhostlyEye will be visible in Windows Taskmanager, however).
You can configure the preferred timer interval between the various screen snapshots. A session does not need to be limited, but a time limit and/or a quantity based limit can be configured. If preferred, GhostlyEye could also close itself when the task is completed (this would mean that either a time or quantity limit has been reached).
GhostlyEye supports four major image standards: Bitmap (.bmp), JPEG (.jpg/.jpeg), Windows metafile (.wmf) and Windows enhanced metafile (.emf).
Plans for future developments related to MCBase - the Music Collection dataBase:
One of the things we're planning to add into MCBase's palette (as a part of the MCBaseUtilities collection), is a function to mass-import multimedia files. Being an automated process, this utility would handle these multimedia files as new entries to the collection, since this idea is consistent with the basic development concept of MCBase, where a multimedia file is merely another "music carrier" and is therefor handled as a separate entity of a song. Therefor, you should keep in mind that such a mass-import tool would not couple the imported multimedia file to any existing songrecords, but would create new song entries for them. (Preliminairy release date: 2nd half of 2006).

We highly appreciate the recognition, shown to us with the presentation of these awards, and we consider them a stimulation to continue with out strive to produce low-cost and good quality software products.
Quite frequently, the websites that are supporting our shareware products are asking for a clickable link from our website back to their site.
In the next few months, we will be looking into a layout in which this would be possible. This layout would show those websites that have a known partnership with us and would indicate which of these partnerships has been elevated to an affiliate level, by the addition of an extra graphic indicator.
The Product Knowledge Base files, (one file for each application), have all been updated between march and april 2005 and include the latest news. Please visit this page to retrieve the file for your application, when required.

Due to the release of our new application GhostlyEye, we decided to do some serious maintenance on the website's structure. One of the things we have put into place, is the further addition of seperate directories (folders), for all our software product related files & pages.
As a result, you may have noticed that several familiar pages were no longer in the same place as they used to be. The most frequently visited ones have had forwarding page in place, but others will result in our "404 error-page" popping up. (Our customized error page will take that visitor to the main site entry, though, where the new link to the required information can be found).
